Professional Development

CHI at Temple Street Children’s University Hospital (TSCUH) is a satellite of the Centre of Children’s Nurse Education located on-site at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin. The aim of the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) department is to support qualified staff in delivering the highest standard of service to our clients.

This is achieved through the planning and provision of continuing education and training programmes. The constant development of new technologies and practices and the ever evolving role of the healthcare professional emphasize the need for staff to develop and update their skills. Today’s healthcare professionals need to be flexible and versatile, education is an essential tool in achieving this objective.

The department’s prospectus is based on a yearly learning needs analysis and collaborative planning with a wide variety of managers & staff within the organization. A number of our study days / programmes are open to non TSCUH staff – information available from .

In recognising the difficulty of releasing staff to attend / train/ participate in education, the department has tried to utilise programmes which combine both e-learning and traditional methods of teaching. Please see the HSEs online learning and development network: www.hse.ie/ccne/.  Click on ‘Programmes’ and select from the list on the left.
