Welcome to Research at CHI at Temple St, Children’s University Hospital,

Our vision for research is: Excellence in research – making a difference to the lives of children

The Research aim of the Hospital is to encourage and facilitate investigators to find new treatments and cures for childhood diseases, and to set new standards of paediatric care by improving clinical effectiveness, patient outcomes and children’s healthcare experience.

Research at CHI at Temple St Children’s University Hospital focuses on three broad research themes:

The Well Child, including research for example in:

  • Injury prevention
  • Obesity
  • Health education
  • Child mental health
  • Epidemiology of childhood infections
  • Asthma.

Rare Disorders in Children – Cutting Edge Treatments, including research for example in:

  • Inherited conditions
  • Inborn errors of metabolism
  • Neuroscience
  • New diagnostic tests
  • Genetic basis to disease (e.g. Cystic fibrosis)
  • Critical care.

Specialist Surgery, including research for example in:
