Special precautions / Clinical Comment	Samples should be collected as close to onset as possible and prior to administration of antibiotics. Store samples at 4⁰C if delay in transportation Indications for testing: 1. Suspected meningitis in a patient with a positive BC for listeria 2. Brainstem encephalitis 3. Early-onset meningitis in a neonate with Listeria recovered from a Mater Misericordiae University Hospital (MMUH)nal site (eg. blood, placenta, HVS) 4. Meningitis (high WBC in CSF) in pregnant women with no other organism found 5. Meningoencephalitis in the immunocompromised patient 6. Other - as discussed with Consultant Microbiologist in Temple Street. ** Test not accredited
