The Rainbow Clinic is the national centre for Paediatric Infectious Diseases/Immunology and for HIV related medicine in children. It has at its core an ethos of holistic multidisciplinary team care.
The Rainbow clinic in CHI at Temple Street provides an outpatient service for investigation, diagnosis and management of paediatric infectious disease and immune deficiency. Key areas include the prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV, management of children with HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, TB, congenital and other infections. The team also provides a comprehensive infectious disease inpatient service.
Professor Karina Butler and Dr. Patrick Gavin are the consultant clinicians leading the multidisciplinary service. They are supported by a small skilled team that includes a medical registrar, specialist nurses and a secretary and work in close liaison with clinical microbiology, infection control, social work and dietetic services in the hospital.
