CHI at Temple Street’s Hospital Library offers a wide range of online and print resources to assist with research and study. We also provide education and training in how to optimise the use of information resources. Our services are available to all registered Staff and Students of the Hospital.

Borrowing Information
The Library stocks a wide range of Medical, Nursing and Healthcare textbooks and journals. We also have an extensive reference collection which includes dictionaries, directories and staff publications. Four books may be issued for a one week time period to Hospital Staff members. Loans are renewable. Journals and reference books may not be borrowed.
INTER LIBRARY LOANS
Articles which are not available in the Library may be ordered free of charge from alternative sources:
- Irish Health Science Libraries Group
- The British Library
- Subito
Please note that that a maximum of 5 Inter Library Loans may be ordered at any one time.
Electronic resources
There are seven research PCs in the Library which are equipped to access the Internet and electronic databases. We currently subscribe to Medline, CINAHL Plus with Full Text, PsychInfo and Health Business Elite databases. All Internet users must hold a current CUH Internet username and password. Please ask the Library Staff for assistance if required.
All our electronic resources can be accessed through our “A-Z” listing which can be accessed in the Library. Remote access is also available via Athens passwords. Please ask the Library Staff for details on how to apply for an Athens passwords.
Current Awareness Service
Our Current Awareness Service offers updates in areas of expertise in the form of Table of Content from chosen journal titles. Please be advised that these are abstracts and NOT full text articles.
1-2-1 Database Training Sessions
This training service is ongoing in the Library and is available to all Hospital Staff and Students. Please contact the Library at ext 4323 to make an appointment.
GENERAL FACILITIES
Self Service Photocopying, printing and fax facilities are available to all Library users. Photocopying/Fax cards cost 2 Euro each and are available to purchase in the Library. All photocopying is subject to the provisions of the Irish Copyright Act. Printing cards cost 2 Euro for 40 copies.
LIBRARY MANGEMENT SYSTEM
The Library uses the Liberty Management System. The online catalogue can be accessed within the Library and is also available on the Hospital Intranet.
