St Michael’s B ward is a unit caring for neonates and infants less than six months of age.
In 2007, the hospital was the TESCO Charity of the Year, through which we funded the redevelopment of St Michaels ‘B’ Ward. The new unit contains 8 single rooms with a fold down bed for parents. The high dependency area contains 3 single rooms.
Six of the cots are designated High Dependency.
Young Babies are transferred to this ward from neonatal/paediatric units throughout the country and on admission through the Emergency Department.The unit is also a referral centre for neonates and infants requiring surgery and the management of conditions including metabolic and neurological disorders.
Our highly qualified staff provides a family-centred, holistic approach to care. We do our utmost to protect the privacy and dignity of your child at all times during their stay. The Clinical Nurse Manager is Karen Brennan.
