St. Brigid’s Ward is a high dependency ward allocated specifically for the care of children and teens with inherited metabolic disorders. The National Centre for Inherited Metabolic Disorders is based in CHI at Temple Street and we care for children from birth to 17 years of age.

Many metabolic disorders cause acute neurological deterioration, as a result intensive management is needed. A number of intensive investigative procedures requiring specialised nursing and close medical supervision are also carried out on this ward.

Our highly qualified staff provides a multidisciplinary approach to care, designed to provide a family-centred and holistic approach to care. This involves collaboration with members of the nursing; medical; dietetic; psychology; social work; laboratory and play department. We do our utmost to protect the privacy and dignity of your child at all times during their stay.

The ward manager is Caroline Clancy
