Parent accommodation

We understand that it can be a worrying time when your child is in hospital. Our aim is to offer you a place to rest and recharge, and help you feel as comfortable as possible while your child is staying with us.

Staying overnight on a ward

Most of the wards at our hospitals include beds or chair beds, so that you can stay with your child in their room. Fold up mattresses are also available, along with sheets and blankets. Only one parent or guardian is allowed to stay each night.

Shower facilities are available in the parents accommodation unit, and are free to use for parents or guardians staying on the ward. Please bring your own toiletries and towels if you wish to use these facilities.

Speak to your ward’s Clinical Nurse Manager to find out more and make arrangements to stay overnight.

Parent accommodation units

We have a small number of rooms within the hospital for parents and guardians to stay. These include single and double rooms with access to shared sitting rooms, kitchens and bathrooms. The units are for parents and guardians only, children and visitors are not allowed in this area.

Accommodation cannot be guaranteed, and priority is given to parents and guardians of seriously ill children, postnatal mothers, breastfeeding mothers and those from outside of Dublin.

Please contact the Accommodation Office as soon as you receive an admission date for your child if you’d like to stay.

Off-site accommodation

Our off-site accommodation provides a home away from home for families of children staying at our hospitals.

Crumlin

The Ronald McDonald housing charities accommodation is located on the hospital campus. The house provides a place to stay for up to 20 families each night. Families are able to stay for as long as they need to, from a few nights to a few months.
