The Tobacco Free Ireland Awards were held last Thursday 25th November where both CHI at Temple Street and CHI at Crumlin won a HSE Tobacco Free Campus Award for 2021. Thirteen acute hospitals won awards with CHI winning two of them. This award is in recognition for the work we do promoting CHI as a Tobacco Free Campus. Part of the work we have done in the last year is to merge the Tobacco Free Campus approaches of both CHI at Temple Street and CHI at Crumlin into a one CHI approach.
“Helping people quit tobacco is the responsibility of all hospital staff members and maintaining a tobacco free campus is part of this process. As we make plans to move to the new children’s hospital, it is integral that we all work together towards creating a healthy environment for all patients, families and staff at CHI,” says Dr. Desmond Cox, Consultant Paediatrician in Respiratory Medicine in CHI at Crumlin and Chair of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland policy group on Tobacco.
