Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) – Update on COVID-19 Visitor Restrictions
Friday 20 March 2020
CHI would like to acknowledge and thank parents and guardians for their co-operation to date with the current visitor restrictions in place in the three children’s hospitals at Crumlin, Temple Street, Tallaght and the Urgent Care Centre at Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown.
At CHI, we fully appreciate how important it is for children in hospital to have their family present. We need, therefore, to balance this requirement with the current restrictions imposed with social distancing and good infection prevention and control practices. In order to protect our patients, their families and our staff and minimise the spread of COVID-19 we are continuing our policy of only one Parent/Guardian visiting their child at any one time. Parents/Guardians to inpatient areas will be issued a single Visitor’s Card at Crumlin and Temple Street.
Children are not permitted to visit the children’s hospitals during this period of the COVID-19 pandemic.
If you are worried you or your child have symptoms of COVID-19 or flu please stay at home, do not attend our Emergency Departments andplease contact your GP. The advice you need is on HSE.ie
We encourage the public to work together to ‘flatten the curve’ and delay and limit the spread of COVID-19. Social distancing is important to help slow the spread of coronavirus. It does this by minimising contact between potentially infected individuals and healthy individuals. We would like to remind those who are visiting our hospitals that they should also following this guidance to help us protect our patients, their families and our staff. Here are some of the things you can do;
- Keep a space of 2 meters (6.5 feet) between you and other people from one another
- Reduce interactions with people outside the workplace and home
- Reduce the number of people you meet every day
- Avoid communal sleeping areas
- Avoid crowded places
- Work from home if possible
We are also asking families to protect yourself and others from coronavirus. COVID-19 is spread in sneeze or cough droplets. To infect you, it has to get from an infected person’s nose or mouth into your eyes, nose or mouth. It’s important to wash your hands properly and often.
