Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) Statement – SIPTU Planned Industrial Action on Wed 26th June Temple Street not affected
Tuesday 25th June 2019 – The paediatric service at CHI at Tallaght and CHI at Crumlin will be impacted by the planned industrial action by SIPTU tomorrow, Wednesday 26th June, 2019. This is a 24-hour work stoppage at the start of day-duty at 08:00 hrs and will end at 08:00 hrs on Thursday 27, June 2019.
Contingency plans are being put in place to ensure patient safety and wherever possible to ensure minimum disruption to patient services.
The planned industrial action involves staff who make an essential contribution to the effective running of the hospitals every day and whilst contingency plans will be put in place there will be disruption to services.
It should be noted that CHI at Temple Street is not affected by this industrial action and services at CHI at Temple Street will operate as normal.
We wish to provide the following advice;
- All parents/ guardians should attend for their inpatient and/or outpatient / radiology appointments as scheduled, unless they have received notification of postponement from their hospital.
- CHI is asking parents/guardians to think about all their care and treatment options including their local family GP and GP out of hours service before attending the EDs (Emergency Departments) in our three children’s hospitals tomorrow
Catering for inpatients will be provided. Some of the restaurants and coffee shops used by staff and members of the public will be closed during the period of industrial action.
We would ask for the public’s patience in this regard and that they pay close attention to national and media outlets and our websites for further strike related updates.
