Short video clips on how to save a life – First Aid Skills
Launched by the National Clinical Programme for Paediatrics and Neonatology and Whatsupmum.ie
- Between 55% and 60% of deaths could be prevented
- only 1 in 20 people have first aid skills*.
(Friday 9th September 2016) In advance of World First Aid Day this Saturday (10th September), the National Clinical Programme for Paediatrics and Neonatology and Whatsupmum.ie have produced a series of FIRST AID video clips for anyone interacting with children.
The first video clip on Infant Choking will be posted on Facebook this Friday morning with all 16 clips available to watch on www.whatsupmum.ie
Professor Alf Nicholson, Consultant Paediatrician, Temple Street Children’s University Hospital and Clinical Lead, National Clinical Programme for Paediatrics and Neonatology stresses how watching these 1-2 minute videos on infant first aid could potentially save a child’s life.
In these clips leading Paediatric Consultants and other medical professionals from Emergency Departments (EDs) across the country discuss the main causes of accidents and injuries that bring children to the Hospital ED and what to do as the first responder.
The aim of the project is to bring down this number of deaths by using basic first aid skills.
The first video clip – infant choking- will be posted on the whatsupmum’s Facebook page www.facebook.com/whatsupmum on Friday morning.
We would welcome your support for this important project and if you find the information valuable please like it and share it on your time line or any other social media you use.
Whatsupmum.ie, developed by Healthcare Help Ltd, gives new parents access to expert advice from healthcare professionals throughout Ireland and is endorsed by the HSE clinical Programme for Obstetrics under Professor Michael Turner.
