Our services

The Paediatric Infectious Diseases team at CHI at Crumlin and Temple Street treat children with infections like

  • sepsis
  • pneumonia
  • meningitis
  • hospital acquired infections
  • imported infections like TB and malaria.

We work with maternity hospitals to prevent infections passed from mother to infant such as

  • cytomegalovirus (CMV)
  • toxoplasmosis

We provide advice to GPs and regional hospitals.

We also offer an outpatient antibiotic therapy service to help children leave the hospital sooner.

  • intra-abdominal infections.
  • hospital-acquired infections, such as Ventilator Associated Pneumonia (VAP) and Catheter and Line Associated Bloodstream infections (CLABSI).
  • infections in children who have had surgery.
  • skin and soft tissue infections, such as cellulitis, recurrent boils, and recurrent Herpes Simplex Virus (cold sores).
